Identité, a new user authentication and security company based out of Clearwater, Florida, has announced NoPass, its secure passwordless multi-factor authentication (MFA) solution.

NoPass uses a three-factor authentication system that is compliant with all industry standards and comes equipped with a patented process known as Full Duplex Authentication (two-way).

On websites that support NoPass, the user is given the option to either scan a QR code, or tap if they are using a mobile device to access the site, to download the NoPass app. Once the app is downloaded to their mobile device, all future authentication attempts automatically launch the app.

In addition to using image and number verification – for example Captcha – to ensure the user is human and not a bot, NoPass also employs biometric authentication, using the biometric capabilities of the device being used to log into it.

NoPass’ Full Duplex Authentication system means that it uniquely verifies both the app on the user’s mobile device as well as the connection to the server, thereby greatly reducing the chance of spoofing or phishing attacks.

“According to research from Verizon, over 80% of all data breaches involve stolen passwords,” said John Hertrich, president and CEO of Identité. “Not only are passwords an overwhelming source of security breaches, but they’re a source of frustration for online users.”

Hertrich’s own experience in the digital security sphere has seen him involved with companies such as Zinc Software Services, and Professional Software Associates.

He’s also surrounded himself with security experts like Vice President of Global Sales and Marketing Joe Skocich, a 20-year industry veteran who spent 17 years at IBM and founded the tech giant’s IBM Security Business Unit.

“NoPass is not only ultra-secure, but super simple for any type of user [and] it’s also flexible enough to accommodate many different industries and user scenarios – from finance and insurance to healthcare, telecommunications, ecommerce and state and local governments,” said Skocich. “Pricing is about half that of authentication alternatives, [and our clients] find that without passwords, there is not a credential vault to be hacked and the user experience improves dramatically,” he added.
